Final Call for Papers - in PDF FormatThe Ninth Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field ComputationHyatt Regency HotelMilwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, June 4-7, 2000
The Ninth Biennial IEEE Conference on Electromagnetic Field Computation (CEFC) will be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA, during June 4-7, 2000. The last Conference was held in Tucson Arizona, USA in 1998. The aims of the IEEE CEFC are to present the latest developments in modeling and simulation methodologies for analysis of electromagnetic field and wave interactions, with the application emphasis being on the computer-aided design of low and high frequency devices, components and systems. Scientists and engineers worldwide are invited to submit original contributions in the areas of static and quasi-static fields; wave propagation; material modeling; coupled problems, optimization; numerical techniques, software methodology; applications of electromagnetic CAD to electrical/electronic device, component and system prototyping. The Conference will feature oral and poster presentations. Twelve copies of a One-Page Digest are due by January 14, 2000 to:Florida International University College of Engineering 10555 W. Flagler Street Miami, FL 33174 USA Tel: (305) 348-3701, FAX: (305) 348-3707 E-Mail: cefc2k@aln.fiu.edu Instructions for the preparation of the one-page digest are given in the attached form. The abstracts must be accompanied by two copies of the Author's Information Form, which is also attached. Authors interested in submitting their papers for review for publication in the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics are asked to bring their manuscripts in final form at the Conference. Both invited and contributed papers are limited to four pages. All submitted manuscripts, both invited and contributed, will undergo peer review to determine their suitability for publication. The selected papers will be published in the May 2001 issue of the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics.
Digests should be submitted in ten copies to the Conference Secretariat by January 14, 2000. They should include an abstract not exceeding 50 words and should not exceed one double-column page in overall length, including figures, tables and references. In the digest, there should be sufficient detail to clearly explain the author's idea, method or formulation. It should contain results showing that the work presented has already matured to the level of publication. Therefore, authors should present enough pertinent information in the digest to help evaluate it correctly. The Conference Record will include all accepted digests and will be made available to all participants at the beginning of the Conference. To ensure legibility and uniformity of the digest, please carefully follow the instruction on the preparation of the digests, included with this call for papers. Twelve copies of the digests should be mailed with two copies of the accompanying Author's Information form, filled out by the author to whom correspondence should be sent and giving his full mailing address, fax number and e-mail address, as well as the author's preference, if any, for poster or oral presentation. The Conference Committee will consider the author's opinion, but reserves the right to state the form of presentation according to conference needs. A list of keywords is included in this call for papers. Authors should select a primary and a secondary keyword to categorize their paper and should indicate these keywords in the space provided on the accompanying form. The keywords will be used by the Conference Committee in the peer reviewing procedure and to create the conference program. Following the completion of the review process of the digests, information will be sent to authors on acceptance and form of presentation of their papers by March 1, 2000. Shortly thereafter, they will receive author kit containing the instructions for preparation of extended papers. Extended papers, prepared in the transactions format, should be submitted by June 6, 2000 at the Registration Desk of the Conference. Papers received and presented at the Conference, upon passing the prescribed peer-review process, will be published in the May 2001issue of the IEEE Transactions on Magnetics. The official language of the Conference will be English. Paper review will be based on the technical merit of the work submitted. Papers, suffering from excessive, grammatical and spelling mistakes however, may be returned to the authors because of the difficulty in evaluating them. It is suggested that authors should try to get their paper(s) proofread by a native English-speaking colleague, if their native language is not English. The Conference will consist of three full days of oral and poster sessions. Oral sessions with invited speakers will be scheduled each day. A detailed Preliminary Program will be sent to all authors and pre-registrants before the Conference. The registration form, information on accommodation and social activities will be sent with the booklet in March 2000. During the Conference, an exhibition of software is planned. This will be an excellent opportunity for software companies to present their latest developments in terms of electromagnetic field analysis and coupled problems to a world-wide public of researchers and engineers. Commercial companies, research centers and universities are welcomed within the limits of the available room. It should be noted that all exhibitors at the Conference would be listed in the conference program. The main topics of interest are:
